Over the past decade, a boom of luxury high-rise condos have started to take over the South Loop area. A number of historic row houses have also been rehabilitated making the mixture of properties rather unique. Found close to Printers Row and within The Loop community of Chicago, South Loop is one of the most popular neighborhoods along famed Michigan Avenue. It's found south of Congress Parkway between the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.

Many former rail yards are located here and have become new developments, such as Central Station and Dearborn Park. Along with the redevelopment of rail yards, a number of warehouses and factories have been converted to residential buildings. Things to do in South Loop

There are a vast array of activities to indulge in throughout South Loop and plenty of excellent attraction nearby. Soldier Field is found close by, along with Lake Michigan and Museum CampusThe Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and Shedd Aquarium are all nearby and Grant Park is found near the southern boundary.

Shopping and dining are found all throughout the area with many independent shops. The neighborhood is also home to a few theaters and music clubs for entertainment. Many new restaurants continue to food into the area, as well as plenty of bars and restaurants, providing excellent nightlife options for those calling South Loop home.

In addition, plenty of events are held here including Lollapalooza, Taste of Chicago, and the Chicago Blues Festival. Many of these events are found at Grant Park, which covers 319 acres of green space and provides plenty of other activities for residents to do throughout the area.

South Loop Lofts

Loft conversions have been associated with the South Loop neighborhood for many years. It used to be a big time industrial and printing area, but many of those old buildings have become unique loft spaces.
